Let your voice be heard before the vote on May 14

The Village of Mamaroneck may soon be the next Long Island Sound community to pass an ordinance banning plastic bags. After a strong show of public support for the local law at the April 23 public hearing, the public comment period is being left open until the vote on May 14, 2012. We need you to take action today and urge the Mayor and Board of Trustees to pass this commonsense ordinance!

Disposable bags litter our communities, harm marine life, waste natural resources, and clog storm drains. Consumers across the globe are transitioning away from disposable bags and instead are using cost effective and environmentally friendly reusable bags. The Village of Mamaroneck now has the opportunity to be a leader and join communities across the nation in banning disposable plastic bags.

Please email the Mayor and Board of Trustees and tell them:

  1. Disposable plastic bags are environmentally harmful and completely unneccessary.
  2. To pass a local ordinance to ban disposable plastic bags and promote reusable bags in the Village of Mamaroneck.
