This summer is not over yet! CCE is organizing beach cleanups at Ft. Nathan Hale Park and Lighthouse Point Park this August to prepare for late summer festivities and Labor Day. Everyone is welcome, and community members are encouraged to bring their families and friends to aid in the effort. CCE staff will provide trash bags and educational environmental literature. Participants are asked to wear sturdy shoes and work gloves.
According to the Ocean Conservancy, American beach cleanups remove an average of 390 lbs. of trash per mile, a rate that is among the highest of any nation. This is your chance to get involved! Our public parks and beaches are a treasure to us, but they are often taken for granted. Help us keep New Haven's beaches clean and pollution free all summer long!
Pack a lunch and bring the kids. This is a perfect weekend activity for the whole family and a great way to give back to your environment and your community!
Join us at either (or both!) of these events in your area:
- Date: Saturday, August 11 (rain date: Sunday, August 12)
Location: Ft. Nathan Hale Beach, Woodward Avenue, New Haven, CT
Time: 12:00pm-2:00pm
- Date: Saturday, August 25 (rain date: Sunday, August 26)
