CLIMATE CHANGE RESOURCE CENTER

Burning for info?

Call it global warming or global climate change, scientists and the public all recognize that human dependence on fossil fuels, like coal and oil, is heating up the average temperature of our planet.  The effects of climate change can be felt already and the basic science and ecological consequences are well reviewed in scientific reports, addressed in government reports, and discussed in print media. Even popular culture has begun to respond to the reality of our changing climate.

Having trouble keeping up with it all? CCE has organized the Climate Change Resource Center to compile the most important global warming information in one place.

  1. Governmental Reports and Resources
  2. Scientific Reports
  3. State/Regional Reports and Resources: Long Island, NY, Hudson Valley, NY, Upstate New York, Connecticut
  4. Highlighting Global Warming in Popular Culture

Kasey Jacobs, CCE Program Coordinator, was part of a select group chosen to participate in Vice President Al Gore’s Climate Project training in Nashville, TN. This rigorous training program was designed to spread the message about the imminent threat of global climate change and existing solutions to the problem. Kasey took part in an intensive tutorial, led by Gore and a team of renowned scientists and environmental educators, about issues surrounding the climate crisis. Additionally, she received technical training to present Gore’s computerbased slide show, the basis for the bestselling book and awardwinning documentary film, An Inconvenient Truth. To bring the message of climate science and solutions home, each presentation highlights the local impacts from climate change and is tailored for each specific audience and available time.
