What is a Session Varable?
A session variable stores a unique code on your browser which allows the server to distinguish you from other users who may be using the site at the same time. A Session Variable is created automatically the first time you enter the subscription area, and is perminantly deleted after 20 minutes of inactivity. Session Variables are also called 'Per Session Cookies'.
Don't I place my computer at risk by enabling
cookies?
NO! Cookies are not used by the CCE Site. Session Variables are classified as Cookies by IE and Netscape for determining the security preferences of your Browser. By enabling Cookies on your browser, you will allow other sites to store Cookies on your computer, however you should be aware that Cookies are used to store very basic information in a controlled manner. There is no way you can receive a virus or put your system at risk by enabling Cookies, as Cookies can not be executed.
How do I enable Session Variables?
To enable the Session Variable functionality of your browser, you will need to set your preferences to 'Accept Cookies'. Once you have done this, you will not see this screen again.
