Draft Comprehensive Energy Strategy Available for Review

Help shape CT's clean energy future

The CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) recently released its draft Comprehensive Energy Strategy (CES). The CES process was put into motion in 2013, with the goal of creating a "cheaper, cleaner, more reliable energy future" for Connecticut residents and businesses.

Members of the public are encouraged to review the draft plan and submit comments on the future of Connecticut's clean energy strategy. Comments can be submitted electronically or at one of six public hearings across the state. Find out more about the schedule and details on submitting comments.

While CCE is still preparing our analysis of the plan, we have flagged areas of concern with the CES based on our initial review that we encourage the public to raise at the upcoming public hearings:

Connecticut's continued over-reliance on fracked gas and dirty nuclear power.
Inadequate ramp-up of solar, wind power, and energy efficiency.
Failure to assess and ultimately address the greenhouse emissions and other adverse environmental impacts related to our reliance on fracked gas and nuclear power generation.

Help us make an impact this year by submitting a comment on the plan. The six public hearings are aimed at educating Connecticut residents, and all are encouraged to attend. We can win big for clean energy this year, but we need your help!

Public hearings on the draft plan will be held at the following times/locations:

August 14, 2017, 6:30 p.m. at Webb Hall, Room 110, Eastern Connecticut State University (Willimantic, CT)
