Join us for our Environmental Equinox Awards Gala to celebrate more than three decades of grassroots accomplishments and our special honorees:

NYS DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos

As Commissioner of the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, Basil Seggos has shown great leadership in the fight to protect and restore New York's environment. Commissioner Seggos has worked closely with Governor Cuomo to advance offshore wind, clean up toxic plumes, expand shellfishing, reduce nitrogen pollution throughout Long Island, and restore the Western Bays. His perseverance is making New York a cleaner, healthier place to live now and for our future generations.

Suffolk County Legislator William Spencer

Suffolk County Legislator William "Doc" Spencer is being honored for his leadership in protecting our environment and for championing plastic bag reduction legislation in Suffolk County. Combating plastic pollution in our waterways is an important component of CCE's work and essential to all New Yorkers. Legislator Spencer and Suffolk County's leadership has set the stage for New York State to take similar actions to reduce plastic pollution.

The equinox is the time of year when the sun crosses the equator and the length of the day equals the length of the night on all parts of the earth. The equinox is a symbol of achieving environmental and societal harmony.
