WOODBURY - Nassau lawmakers and environmentalists are renewing their call for funding they say the state promised to study Long Island’s bays.

Lawmakers say the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) promised more than $250,000 for the study in 2007 and never delivered.

Leg. Dave Denenberg says the study could impact sewage plant regulations and technology used to remove waste from the waters.

The state DEC says the money is on its way and that monitors will be installed in the bays by the end of the month.

The New York State Department of the Budget, which is handling the rest of the money, has not returned News 12 Long Island’s calls.
