ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH, & COMMUNITY GROUPS CALL UPON DEC TO BAN MOST PREVALENT PESTICIDES IN LI DRINKING WATER

Farmingdale, NY—Environmental, Health, and Community groups will join together in calling upon DEC to protect Long Island’s drinking water by calling for zero tolerance for pesticides in drinking water and to ban most prevalent pesticides. The DEC has compiled alarming information regarding the presence of toxic pesticides in drinking water. Long Island gets our drinking water from underground aquifers. It is imperative that DEC move swiftly to ensure protection of drinking water for now and future generations. Maps of pesticide detections in drinking water will be displayed at press conference.
